Limit of Iodides

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Moisten 5 g of Sodium Chloride in a test tube.

2. Add a freshly prepared mixture of:

• 0.15 mL of Sodium Nitrite solution (100 mg/mL).

• 2 mL of 1 N Sulfuric Acid.

• 25 mL of Iodide-free Starch TS.

• 25 mL of water.

3. Wait for 5 minutes.

4. Examine the substance in natural light.

Acceptance Criteria

• No blue color is observed (Acceptance: NMT 0.01%).
